A blockchain, originally block chain, is a growing list of records, called blocks, that are linked using cryptography. Each block contains a cryptographic hash of the previous block, a timestamp, and transaction data.
By design, a blockchain is resistant to modification of the data. Once recorded, the data in any given block cannot be altered retroactively without alteration of all subsequent blocks. This mechanism acts like a notary’s office.
Quanttag system uses a public or private blockchain to trace all steps of a product since its production to the sale. These information are stored and remains unchanged in a blockchain, where they can be queried throughout the product’s life.
